The Grete Lundbeck European Brain Research Foundation is a Danish, charitable, non-profit organisation. The purpose of the Foundation is to promote interest in brain research and its results and to encourage and reward outstanding brain research. The Brain Prize - € 1 million - will be awarded for the first time in spring 2011 to one or more scientists who have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to European brain research and who are likely to remain active researchers for at least 10 more years. Awards will be followed by an extensive outreach programme organised together with the major Danish universities.
